Super Bowl Recap
Super Bowl
The Eagles dominated the Chiefs In Superbowl 59 At One Point, Leading By Four, Scoring and capturing The franchise's Second Super In Seven, Toppling The
REIGNING champ Chiefs 40-22.
Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts, Whose Rise To Prominence extends back to His Days at Alabama, where He Got Benched For The Better Polished Passer Tua Tagavailoa, To His Suseeding Carson Wentz, The Eagles Starter In Hurts’s Rookie Year To Eventually Proving Himself Worthy Of The Title and The Money As The Eagles Franchise Quarterback. All Of This Culminated In Hurts Reaching The Pinnacle Of Football Glory Taking Home The MVP of The Super Bowl. HURTS signature Moment Came On 46 Yard Touchdown From Hurts To Devonta Smith In The Third Quarter, A Play Reminiscent Of Smith’s National Championship Moment Of 2018. The Eagles, The Team With The Better Roster, Played Like The Better Team As The Defense Completely Neuralized, But The Cheifs' Short Pass Game and run Game Opened the door For Mahomes To Face Near A 50% Pressure Rate and Get Sack 6.5 Times. Hurts’s MVP performance Merely CApped Off A Complete Team Performance As The Eagles picked Mahomes Three Times, Leading To 14 Points For The Eagles. To the Chief's Credit, The Defense Played Solid Enough, Just Not Enough To Contain The Munsune Known As Jalen Hurts. When The Chiefs Sent Pressure Or The Rush Won Off The Edge, Hurts Scrambled To Gain 72 Yards On Eleven Carries. The Chiefs' Defense Picked Up Two Sacks Along The Way, But Most Of Hurts' Pressure Resulted In Some Of The Biggest Plays For The Eagles, Like The 22 Yard Catch By Saquon Barkley Along The Sideline. With The Chiefs Committed to Slowing down Saquon Barkley, Hurts Lead The Team In Rushing On His Way To Passing 17/22 With 221 Passing Yards, Two Touchdowns, One Pick, And a Passer Rating of 119.7. Hurts Completed All Six Of His Passes Along The Boundary, Most Of Which Came On The Move As The Chiefs Pass Rush Forced Him Off His Spot. The Chiefs Contained Saquon Barkley, 25 Carries For 57 Rushing Yards, and A Long Of Ten Yards—Devonta Smith Four Catches For 69 Receiving Yards and 46 Yard Touchdown Reception. The Eagles' Passing Game Simply Spread Out The Chiefs' Pass Defense And Pick Which Matchup To Target With Hits, Basically Using His Legs In Single Back and Empty Situations With Hurts, Picking Up 499 EPA per play On Pass Attempts, 11 Yards Per Attempt. Mahomes So How Generated 257 Passing Yards, Three Touchdowns, and Eight Yards Per Attempt, But Mahomes generated Just 11.4 QBR, -11.29 EPA, On 21/32 and led the Team With 25 Yards On The Ground. Rookie Receiver Xavier Worthy led the Chiefs With A Record 8 Catches For 157 Receiving Yards and A Touchdown, The Most Yards For A Rookie In Superbowl For A, Rookie But Most Of Which Came After The Game Had Theoretically Ended. The Chiefs Had No Semblance Of A Run Game, And The Played Shallow In Coverage, Taking Away Most Of The Opening The Chiefs Usually Create In The Short Game and Forcing Mahomes To Look Deep, Which Didn’t Work So Well. Travis Kelce Caught Just Four Passes For 39 Receiving yards, But The Chiefs Receivers All Struggled To Win Quick Routes, and The Eagles’s Pressure Wouldn’t Let Mahomes Win Later AS Deeper Routes Needed To Develop.
The Chiefs' Offense Thrived, Or At least Managed, On Execution Which Dissipated Against The Eagles. This Loss In No Way Derailed The Chiefs Chances Of Continuing To Contend The AFC By Getting Younger At Play Maker, The Chiefs just Ran Into A Much Better Team In The Matchup. The Eagles Pull Off A Convincing Upset Just Like The Last Team That Defeated Mahomes In The Playoffs, The Buccaneers.
Jalen Hurts Has Always Championed The Ideal Of The Inner Battle With One Self Over The Cause A Foe: "I had a purpose before everybody had an opinion. It's not about anybody else." Preparing To Make His Second Start In A Super Bowl In Only His Fourth Year As a Time Starter, Jalen Hurts Has To Face Off and Compare With The Former Jalen Hurts. The Jalen Hurts Of The Eagles Last Super Bowl Run Came In Off A Polished Season In Which Only a Late Season Injury Stole Away What Should’ve Proven His First MVP, But Hurts Followed This By Throwing For 300 Yards And Rushing For 70 In A Super Bowl Loss. Hurts Has Better Stats This post-season Passer Rating better Completion Percentage, Completions But With Lower Passing Yards Per Game He’s Not Thought Of As Playing Better This Post Season Than Last Super Bowl run. Hurts Battle began Early As The Eagles Took The Field On Offense. Hurts Gets The Eagles Across the field, Picking A First Down On A Pass To Devonta Smith Along The Side line for eight Yards. The Chiefs Offense Force The Eagles To Face A 4th And Two, A Few Yards Longer Than The Recommended Length For “Brotherly Shove” Or Quarterback Shove. AJ Brown Looked To Have Picked up The Conversion And A Beautiful 32 32-yard catch, But He Gets Called For Offensive Pass Interference And The Eagles punt. The Eagles Get On The Board 7-0 Mid Way Through The First Quarter With A Brotherly Shove At The End Zone Set Up By A Hurts Connection 28 Yards To Off-season Transaction Jahan Dotson. Hurts Started The Game Pretty Well, 5/6 For 60 Yards Over The Eagles First Three Drives. Hurts Connected With Tight End Dallas Geordert For 20 Yards, And Geordert Picked Up A Pass with An Unnecessary Roughness Penalty and Keep The Eagles Touchdown Drive-Alive. The Eagle Offense Looked Ready To take over The Game but Throws An Interception After an 11-play drive That Netted The Eagles 50 Offensively, But The Eagles Get Stopped at The Foot Of The Red Zone. The Chiefs' Defense Concentrated On Slowing Down The Eagles’ Run Game and Saquon Barkley.
The Chiefs Faced a 10-0 Deficit Through The Second Quarter; Then The Eagles Turn Up The Pressure, Sacking Mahomes Twice On The First Two Plays On The Chiefs' Fourth Drive Before Patrick Mahomes Throws An Interception That Cooper Dejean Turns InTo a 38 Yard Return For Touchdown. The Chiefs First Five Drive End With a Three Straight Punts, An Interception And A Punt And generated Just 14 Yards Total After Adjusting For Sacks. The Eagles Took The Game Plan Out Of The Bucs PlayBook, The Only Other Team To Beat Patrick Mahomes In Super Bowl, By Applying Tons Of Pressure and Not Allowing Mahomes To Settle In The Pocket. The Eagles' Special Teams Won’t Get Much Credit At The End Of The Game, But Stranding The Chiefs’ Offense Deep In Their Territory Limiting The Depth Of The Chiefs' PlayBook and opened the Door For The Eagles' Pressure To Get Home And Disrupt Any Budding Offensive Rhythm. The Chiefs Picked One First Down In The Game, Which Came On The offense's First Play Of The Game After The 11 Minute Mark of The Game The Chiefs did pick Up Another First Down In The First Half. Mahomes and The Chiefs Would Score Their First Points In the third Quarter, But By Then The Eagles Had Sealed The Victory With a Four Score Lead.
