Thanksgiving Week 13 Takeaways.

Bears vs Lions

The Bears' Offense Overcomes A Slow Start To Post Three Second Half Passing But falls short As The Lions Escape A Thanksgiving Up Set 23-20. The Lions Offense Reigned In The First Half Scoring On Their First Four Drives One Touchdown and Three Field Goals As The Defense Held The Bears With A First Down Until Late In The Second Quarter. The Bears Shook  Off The Early Struggles Probing The Lions' Secondary For Multiple Big Plays Including Multiple 31 Catches For Touchdown One To DJ Moore and Another To Keenan Allen. The Bear Had The Lions On The Ropes After Detroit Went Three And Out With Less Than Four Minutes Of Clock. The Bears Rally From Their Own Yard Line to Get In Scoring Range Only To Have A Sack Push Williams Out Of Range And the Bears Fall Short. The Lions' Offense Which struggled To Run The Ball In The Second Half Decided To Run The Ball On Offense Three Times To End The Game Their Offense Gave the Bear Another shot To win Which fell short. Williams Did Return To Holding The Ball at 3.41 Seconds To Throw But Against The Lions’s Defense, This Long Looks Down Field Worked In The Form Of Big Plays Because Man To Man Defenses Can't Cover For Long Stretches. The Lions'  Defense Also Got Hit With Big Penalties.

The Bears' Collapse Came Down To Multiple Factors Beyond The Mismanagement Of Time Williams Has To Know Not To Take A Sack, Of Course The Lions' Pass Rush Collapsed Fast But The Play-calling  Has To Account For The Pressure By Installing Some Hot Route Or Pass Pro. The No Call Time Out Seemed Like A No Brainer But He’s A Rookie and The Coach Of Course Remembers That His Kicker Has Struggled In These Moments With the Lions Pressuring Without Blitzing. According To The NFL Rules,  “head coaches and players in the game can call a timeout“ So even Though Eberflus Holds The Brunt Of The Blame 12 People Had The Opportunity To Call a Timeout. The Bears Squeeze All The Hope Out Of A Promising Situation And Take Home Another Tough Loss Again. Even Though Again The Team Looked Better.

Caleb Williams 20/39, 256 most Of Which Came In The Second Half As The Bears surged. Williams Also Added  39 Yards On The Ground On Four Scrambles: DJ Moore, Eight Catches For 97 yards, 5 Catches For 73  And Two Touchdowns. The Lions Played A lot Of Man To Man and The Bears Figured Which Receivers To Attack Late.

Jared Goff was 21/34 For 221 Passing Yards Two Touchdowns But Slowed Down In The Second Half Outside of The Touchdown And One Big Play To Amon-Ra St. Brown To Set Up The Miss Field Goal. The Lions' Run Game Set Up Most Of Detroits’s Scores As Both Montgomery And Gibbs Both Rushed Over 80 Yards. Montgomery 21 Carries For 88 Yards, Jahmyr Gibbs 9 Carries For 87 Yards, and One Lost Fumble As The Lions Rack Up 405 Yards Of Offense.  The Detroits Offense Has Come Out “Slowed” At Least From The Pace They Initially Set For Hime Games. Detroit Took Their Foot Off The Pedal Late In The Game and The Season This Makes Sense Because You Want Conserved Bodies and Reps Some Games Will Require Detroit To Finish Stronger. “Yeah Crazy Ending” Lions Quarterback Jared Goff Said After The Game, “Thought We Won. Thought We Were Going To Overtime. Thought We’d Get A Chance At A Final Drive And It All Kept Happening Over Again.”

The Colts Slowed Down The Lions Mowing Machine For At Least A Game. Pressure Has Always Served As Goff's Kryptonite But The Lions' Offensive Line is One Of the Best In the League. The Bears Unfortunately Don’t Perform Well In the Pressure Department Just 20th Pass Rush Win Rate. The Detroit defense Might Face A Tougher Challenge Trying To Manage The Bears Who’ve Recovered From Their Offensive Funk And Have Rythym Now Having Just Lost Two games by The Slighest Of Margins.

The Bears Defense Didn’t Get A Sack On The Lions' First Drive But Not Goff The Bears Rallied To Sack the Lions' Offensive Line Penei Sewell On A Trick Play and Nearly Attempted A Pass Before The Bear Gang Tackle Him “Out Of Bounds” Because No One Could Bring The Mountain Of Man Down. Goff Starts The Game 5/5 With Multiple Chuck Shots But The Bears Goal Line Defense Holds Forcing Two Incompletions and The Bears force A Field Goal. That’s A Win For The Bears Considering The Lions Have Tormented Defenses At Home. After The Bears Post A Three and Out As Caleb Williams Fails To Connect With DJ Moore Down The Field The Lions Convert  A Red Zone To Red Zone Drive, This Time Not Getting Denied And Putting Up a Touchdown At The Start Of The Second Quarter. Goff Connected With His Top Receiver Amon-Ra St.Brown For 29 To Convert a Third Down And Goff Pays Off The Drive With A Laser To Tight End Sam Laporta. With The Bear Offense Struggling, The Red Zone Defense Would Manage Against The Overpowering Lions Forcing Two Field Goals In Three Trips Into The  Bears' 20. The Bears' Offense Struggle, No First From Their First Three Drives With Several Missed Opportunities Facing Third And Long. They attempted A Fourth After Williams Picked 11 Yards ON a Third In 13 To Convert But The Bear failed. The Bears Don’t Get Their First Conversion Until Late In The Second Quarter After Jahmyr Gibbs Fumbles Off And  Caleb Williams Hits Tight End Cole Kmet For 14 Yards But The Drive stalls On Three Williams Incompletions. The Lions Take A 16-0 Lead Into The Half.

Williams Bounces Back Not Only From The Slow First Half But A Big Hit By The Lions Then Hit Connects With Keenan Allen Over The Middle For 31 Yard Touchdown. The Bears Would Jumps Start Their Offense With Multiple Big Plays In The Second Half And Even Got Into The Red Zone Late In the Third Quarter And Get On The Board Once More With Keenan Allen For Nine Yards. Williams Connected With Wide Receiver Rome Odunze for 19 yards And D’andre Swift For 29 Yards On a Screen Pass As The Bears racked up 130 Plus Yard Off Offense In the Third Down Despite Some Good Plays By The Detroit Defense. The Lions Posted A Quarter Touchdown, On Sam Laporta’s Second Of The Game To Put Detroit Up 23-7 After A 11 Play Drive Brought Detroit To The Red Zone Again. Chicago Got Their Second Score At The Start Of The Fourth To Being The Bear Within 10 Points. I Thought The Lions Bigger Receiver Could Lions Problems In The Second Half And That Proves True As DJ Moore Rockets Pass Detroits Man To Man Defense To Cut The Game To A Field Goal Difference with A Touchdown From Williams For 31 yards. After Struggling To Convert down early in The Game The Bears and Caleb Williams Doing the Most For His Offense Settled Down and Found His Spots.

Williams Throws For Over 200 Yards In The Final Two Quarters And picks Up Multiple Big Runs But The Bears Fall Short After A Sack And Botch Late Game Executions.

The Bears' Defense Also Got Going Forcing A Stop On The Lions First Drive Of The Fourth Then Holding Detroit To A Field Way Through The Fourth, Which the Lions' Kicker Missed, and The Lions' offense Would Struggle In The Fourth Quarter With a Point and Two Punts A Chicago cuts Back Into The Game. The Bears Get As Close As The 25 Yard Line But Fall Short 23-20.

Packers Vs Dolphins

On Thanksgiving Night The Dolphins Found Themselves  Just One Game Below .500 Still In The Playoff Race After A Worrisome Start To The Season And Some Shortcoming After Tua’s Return. A Run To End The Season Could See The Dolphins Return To The Playoffs. The Dolphins Would Have To Overcome The Packers A Team Already Entrenched In Their Playoff Spot And  Not Looking To Concede Position To Anybody With A Shot To Over the Vikings At The Fifth Seed But Less Likely the Lions If A Collapse Should Occur. Falling By Two Touchdowns To The Packers in The First Quarter Proved Inauspicious For The Dolphins  As The Score Could’ve Look Different After they stopped The Packers On The First Drive Of The Game Punt Returner muffed the Punt Giving The Packers A New Possession In The red Zone.

Jordan Love Hits Wide Receiver Jayden Reed For 3 Yards To Put The First Points On The Board. The Dolphins Defense Held The Packers To -4 Yards On The First Drive But Cave In On The Second Drive. The Dolphins Punt On Their First Official Drive Forcing The Packers To Drive The Length Of Field For 12 plays For 76 Yards To Get Josh Jacobs In

the End Zone. The Packers Into This Game Middle Of The Pack Sacks And Pressure Rate And Amongst The Worse Pass Rush Win  Rate But Early on Had Their Way With The Dolphins O-Line The Packers Get Two Sacks That Shut Down A Dolphins Second Quarter Drive. Jaydan Reed’s Second Touchdown Of Game Put The Packers Up 21-3 On The Board, 24-3 At The Half. The Dolphins Offense Would Score Two Touchdowns In The Second Half While The Defense Held The Packers To Just Two Field Goals But Miami’s Comeback Efforts Fell Short 30-17.

The Packers held Tyreek Hill Without A Catch In The First Half Before He Came Alive In The Second Half For 6 Catches For 83 Yards And A Ricochet Touchdown Off The Hands Of The Tight End Jonnu Smith. Smith led the Dolphins In Receiving With 10 receptions and Receiving Yards With 113 Yards Through The Air As The Cold Water Forced Tua To Throw Short Just 3 Yards On Depth Of Target Before McDaniels Found Ways To Scheme Up Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill In The Second Half. The Dolphins Offense Produced Three Red Zone DRIVEs In The Second Half But Only Cane Away With Two Scores After Failing To Convert A Fourth And One In The Third Quarter After Tua Takes A Sack and The Dolphins Finish The Game 2-4 In The Red Zone. Tua Took Five Sacks On The Game On His Way To  37/46 For 365 Passing Yards Two Touchdowns And A Passer Rating of 114.2 And On The Surface, The Cold Weather Didn’t Strike The Passing Game But The Dolphins Got Nothing On The Ground. Tua Got The Ball Out Pretty Quickly 2.3 Secs But When The Packers Forced Him To Hold The Ball He Couldn’t The Resulted Usually Ended In a sack.

Devon Achane Capped Off A 70 Yard Drive With Another One Of His Short Screen Passes Cutting Through The Packers' Defense For A Score. He’s among the Best Receiving Running Backs In The Game.

The Dolphins Held The Packers Down In The Second Half They Too Struggled With Tackle on the Screen Missing A Total Of Twenty Tackles But Also Not Sacking Jordan Love One Time In The Entire Game. Love Racked Up 21/28 For 274 Passing Yards, Two Touchdowns, 129.2 Passer Rating. Jaydan Reed Caught Two Touchdowns But Tight Tucker Kraft Lead The Team In Receiving 6 Catches For 78 Receiving Yards. Josh Jacobs Amassed 23 Touches For 117 Yards Of Scrimmage Offense 74 Through The Air, and One Touchdown On The Ground. Neither Team Found Much Success On The Ground But The Packers Had More Success in The Short Game Forcing Missed Tackles and Creating YAC Opportunities. Packers Tight End Tucker Craft Created an absurd 10 Yards After The Catch Per Reception, Wide Receiver Jaydan Reed Added 4.4 Each Route As The Packer Relied On Missed Tackles In The Short Game To Handle The Dolphins On The Scoreboard. The Packers Look Like A Good Team And A Threat In The Playoffs They Simply Can't beat The Better Teams In Their Division.

Cowboys Vs Giants

The Cowboys Take Care Of The Giants As A Late Push From The Giants Falls Just Short 27-20. Drew Lock Got The Start For The Giants As The Teams Third Quarterback This Year. The Tommy Devito Run As The Giants’ Quarterback Came To Sudden And Disappointing End After The Giants Score Only Seven Points And Devito Suffers A Forearm Injury. According To His Folklore Devito’s Home Town Presence and Aura Should’ve At Least Re-invigorate The Giants Instead Top Receiver Malik Nabers Said The Giants Faced The Same Results. The Giants Will Plugged Drew Lock To Face A Cowboys Defense Steadily Improving Especially Against The Pass Since Week 10. Cowboys Back Cooper Rush Hasn’t Faced Too Much Difficulty Taking Over The Starting Spot Following A Solid 24/32 For 247 Passing Yards Outing against The Commanders.
