My Take On The Chaos In. The Running-back Market And The Top Five Running-backs In The League.

The Running's Back Market Has Cause Quite The sTir This Off Season For All The Wrong Or Right Reasons. Is The Market Broken? Can Intervention Of Any Kind Mend The Two Sides of The team and Players? Labor Struggles Exist On All Levels Of Life, But Through My Lens, I've Come To Accept The Reasoning The Colts Took When Addressing Their Combative Running Back Dilemma.

Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs, And Tony Pollard All Considered Premier Players At Their Position In The Sport, Some Engines Of Their Offense, All Entered The Off-season Without Extension Tabled By Their Teams. Pollard Just Finished A Career Year But Has Never Reigned As A Featured Back For Cowboys After Splitting Reps With Ezekiel Elliot Most Of His Career. Pollard Averaged 5.2 Yards Per Career On His Way To His First 1000 Yard Season But Has A Lot Still To Prove, Coming Off Of A Broken Leg. The Cowboys Staff, Has Gone On Record Stating Their Reservations About The Long Term Possibility Of Tony Pollard Taking Over The Lead Role In The Cowboy's Backfields. Tony's a very talented runner and good all-around back, but some guys are race cars," Peete said. "Some guys are high-quality, expensive sedans, and those sedans can go for a long distance at a very high rate, whereas race cars go very fast and quick and run out of gas." For Pollard, Ten Million "Feels" Right. He's The Least Accomplished And, On Quote, The Least Worn Down snaps Wise. The Cowboys May Have Just Been Using The Old Investment Strategy Of "Talking Down On What You Want To "Keep" To Hold The Market Down" Those Words As A Ploy To Depress Pollards Market Ahead Of His Contract Expiring.

Pollard Didn't Express Any Dejection With How Things Turned Out, "The Situation Is what It Is." Pollard Said, "If You Can't Work The Deal Out In Time, There's No Point In Bringing It Up. I'm Here With My Feet At Camp."

Saquon Barkley, Who Seems To Generate The Most Noteworthy In This Because He Plays In New York, Prove He's A Special Talent In His Rookie. Still, Ever Since Those Faithful Back To Back 1000 Yard Rushing Seasons, The Magic Of Saquon Seemed To Rub Off and Escape His Foot Continually Falls Ever Since, Until Last Year. Still, Even After A Year Where He Reclaimed Some Of The Magic, Saquon Still Has Caution Markers On Him. At This Stage Of His Career, At Age 26, Saquon A Power Back. Whiles Still Good For An Explosive Run(Saquon Finished Top Five In Runs Of 10+ Yards), Those 370 Rushing Attempts Only Added More Tread To His Tires. Those 1312 Yards Show Pure Evidence Of His Ability, But 4.4 Yards Leave Saquon Where At The Mercy Of Hung Jury Of Giant's Decision Especially Considering Nick Chubb Generates 5.0 Yards Per Carry. Seriously Depending On Saquon, Beyond Maybe Another Season Doesn't Sound Smart If You're The Giants With Holes Elsewhere On The Roster. If You're Saquon, Who Would Need Another Year In Franchise Tag Hell, A Contract Evaluation That Breaks Down To About "$22.2 million over two seasons." It, A Solid Figure In Itself, But One Saquon is Not Guaranteed To Reach. As Of This Writing, Saquon Had His Contract Amended For One Year, $11 Million, .9 Million($900,000)More Than His Original Tag— A "Pittance" For Your Trouble, Saquon. These Short TerShort-Termm Deal Make Since For The Giants Because By Next Year, They'll Fall Ill With Buyers Remorse And Seek To Undo The Deal.

"The Only Thing I Can Focus Is Now, and If A Certain Situation comes Up Like This Again… I'll Deal With That When It Happens." Saquon Said During A Training Camp Press Conference. "we Failed To Get the Deal Done," He Continued Almost Despondently. After Six-Year And Three Thousand Yard Seasons, Saquon Sounds Like He's Ready To Walk In And Prove Himself Again. The Giants Will Look To Lean In On Their Forty Million Dollar Arm In Daniel Jones.

Running Backs Understand They Need To Enter Free Agency A Season Earlier Like A Season Ago, That Would Serve Them

Better To enter Free Agency. Running Backs Need Money Like Everyday People. They Have Bills And Mortgages, IG Models To Fly Out Like Most People( The Exception Of That Last One), And Money Services All These Endeavors. Running Backs, Unlike Humans—Well Actually Just Like People—Have Market Economics They Yield Down Towards. Market Economic Run On The Principles Of 'Supply And Demand,' And These Principles Balance Prices In The Market Assuming No Other Forces Impact The Market—a Loose Assumption At Best. Running Backs Only Have One Weapon At Their Disposal That Can Bring Equilibrium To Their Market, Or Increase The Odds They Get The Prices They Demand, and That's Cut Supply. The Supply For A Product Or Thing Naturally Declines Once The Price Drops(Or At Least Should, Economics Can Get Fluid At Times). For Now Back,s get Subject To The "draft, plug and play" Model GM'GMss And NFL Adhere.

"The degree to which changes in price translate into changes in demand and supply is known as the product's price elasticity." (Investopedia).

The Running Market Also Gets Crushed By The Inflated Quarterback And Receiver Market, The NFL's Hard Cap, and The Depressed Free Agency.

NFL Team Possess The Franchise Tag, That's Kind Of Like An Independent Agent Against The Independence Of The Supply And Demand Chain. With The French Tag, Initial Devised To Restrict Quarterback Movement, Teams Can Corner Any Market In The League, Thus Disrupting The Natural Laws Of Supply And Demand.

If Running Hope To Impress Their Will On Their Elasticity, They'll To Play A Different Position. Playing Running back Requires Vision, Muscle Coordination, and, most Of All Toughness,s. Now They'll Need the Vision To See Themselves Into a Position In Football Where Those Skills Dominate, Play Maybe Safety Or Gadget Receivers, Some "hybrid player who could line up in the slot or at running back" all Of This Before Entering The League. Also, Before The League, Top Flight Running Back Recruits Should Look To Red Shirt A Year In College, Shielding Their Bodies From Unnecessary Grind. Joining A College With A Stable Of RunningBack Where The Loads Sharing Across Three Feature Backs, Like What Colleges Like Georgia and Alabama Serve Always Every Year. Bonanza Robinson Played In Something Of A Dual Back System In Texas And Will Play One In The NFL, Saving Tread. How This Load Shedding Strategy Affects NIL Shouldn't Matter Because You'll Make More In The League.

Furthermore, Running Backs With Accepted Talents Should Strive For Second Or Third Round Grades In The Draft Wethe,r Thats Splitting Reps Or Choosing A Under The Radar School. Two Of The Best Runningback Contracts In The League—If You Can Call Any Running Back Contracts In The League "Good"— Belong To Nick Chubb and Alvin Kamara, Not To Mention Aaron Jones, Who Unfortunately Took A Pay But Still Notched an Impressive Deal Nonetheless With The Packers, All 2nd Or 3rd Picks Who Avoided An Extra Year For Teams To Dangle Over Them and Enter Negotiations With A Head Above. Getting Drafted Into Dual Back Situation Help Stave Off Decline, I'm Surprised A Guy Like Kareem Hunt Remains Available Given He Split Time With Nick Chubb.

Running backs And Rushing Still Generate Positive Win Value In The League, And NFL Teams Didn't Neglect The Rush Last Season. Half of The League's Teams Rushed The Ball More Than Five Hundred Times, On Which Represented A Large Jump From Just Four Team Who Rushed The Ball 500 Or More Times A Year Before—the Season As A Feature Of The Offense And Not As A Counterweight To The Passing Offense. Don't Expect This Year To Reflect The Continued Use Of Running. Many teams Dealt With Changes At Offensive Coordinator, Rookie Takeovers, and Instabilities At Quarterback, Not To Mention Turnover at Wide Receiver, Multiple Teams Played At Least Three Quarterbacks, And The Offensive Numbers For Last Season Slumped. Brady Retired Then Un-retired, Even Though The Bucs Finished Last In Rushing The League's Offensive Infrastructure Got A Little Perturbed. With More Continuity On Offense rerunning The Ball May Prove An Afterthought, As The Case In Years Prior.

Nick Chubb

After A Few Years Of Vision Trouble, Blasting Through The Thickets Of Competition And Pulling Out Of Te Chunk Of Devalued Running Backs, Nick Chubb Emerge As The Best Running Back In The NFL. I Still Remember Vividly, When Chubb Took Over Lead Dog Responsibilities at Georgia After Todd Gurley Departed For The Draft. Poised To Break the SEC, Then in One Play as Chubb Got Tackled Out of Bounds, A "Gruesome" Knee Injury Appeared To Derail All Of The Weight Train And Physical Gifts In One Moment. A Routine Outside Run Ended With Chubb Sprwaled Across The Sideline After Suffering A PCL (posterior cruciate ligament), MCL (medial collateral), and LCL (lateral collateral). If You're Squeamish, Don't Look at The Play Up On YouTube, Know, The Designer Didn't Intend Legs To Bend In That Direction.

"When it happened, a lot was going through my mind," Chubb said, "but the first question was, 'What had happened to my leg? And second, could it be fixed?"

Maybe If The Medicine Surrounding Knee Injuries Hadn't Advanced So Much and If The Injury Didn't Meet The Herculean Physique And Spirit Of Chubb, We'd have A Different Running Back At The Top Of Game, And The Running Back Argument Would Find Itself Without One Premier Example Of How A Running Back Can Function as The Engine Of A Formidable Offense. "They Carry This Team; They Carry This Offense. We Don't Have a Running It's Hard To Have A Passing Game."

Chubb More Than Answer The Bell For The Brown Whose Passing Furnished A "Under Construction" Sign Deshaun Watson Returned For Injury. The Brown Turned Into A One Identity Team. Chubb Finished With 302 carries, third in the League for 1,525 yards, Third again, and 12 touchdowns, Good For Fifth. The stalkier Build Of Chubb Belies His Explosion, He Leads The League With 23 Breakaway Runs Of 15 Yards Or More. Chubb Has Finished At Least Top Four In Yardage In The Past Four Years.

Christian McCaffrey

Judging The Different Dimensions Of McCaffrey's Game Could Prove More Difficult Than I've Witness Most Attest. He's A Dynamic CRusher Of A Rusher On Both Inside and Outside Zone, A Flicker In The Passing Game, And The Presence Of Gravity He Brings To The Offense Stats Cant Quantify. The Trouble? The Panthers Finished With Better Rushing Numbers After The McCaffrey Trade, After The Team Moved On To D'Onta Foreman And Chiba Hubbard. That's Evidence By The Fact McCaffrey Ranks 18th In Football Outsider DVOA Rushing, Nothing To Scoff At He's Less Than The Best, At Least Last Season. Both Foreman And Hubbard Registered High rushing Over Expected Numbers Than McCaffrey. With McCaffrey, You Have To Judge Where The Shanahan Offense Ends, And He Begins and Which One Counts More, But McCaffrey's 1377 Yards On The Ground With 4.8 On Average And Ten(10) Touchdowns And 90.4 PFf Grade Makes A Compelling Top Five Argument.

Josh Jacob

I've Always Liked Josh Jacobs For Years Now. I Think The rushing Titke HAs Brough More Attention To His Skill Set, But Jacob Built Himself Up To This Point For Some Time. He's Not The Shiftiest Back He's The Closest To The Shiftiest With His League Leading 97 Missed Tackles Forced To His Credit. Jacobs Posses Incredible Gyroscopic Balance That Imbues Him With The Ability To Dodge In the Smallest Of Spaces. Jacobs Can Also Hit The "Power Button" If He Needs To Drag A Potential Tackler for Two More Yards. If I Continue My Panegyric Of Jacobs, His Vision For Holes As They Open. He Possesses Spider-vision. His Game Winning Touchdown Against The Seahawks Demonstrated This Precisely, As He Makes Two Cuts, Before Hitting The Throttle Into The Next Level.

He's Also A Testament To The Route I Believe Most Backs In College Should Take, Playing In A Staple Of backs In College. He Impressed Enough, Without Taking Over Full Time Starting Duties At Alabama, To Appeal To The Raiders In The First Round—One Of The Few Raiders First Round Picks Anyone In The Raiders Brass Can Point To With Pride Over The Last Decade. The Raiders Rejected Josh Jacobs Fifth Year Option A To Their Somewhat Under Featured Back To Prove His Value. Jacobs Proceeded To Lead The League In Total Rushing Yardage, 1653, And A Career High 4.9 Yard Per Attempt, Along With Career Highs In Receiving Yards At 400 Yards and Career Tying Touchdown Numbers 12, All for A 2063 Total Yards From Scrimmage. In The Early Aughts, And If The Raiders Made A Playoff Run, Jacob's Numbers Could Comprise An MVP Season Argument. If The Raiders Had Any Argument For Paying Jacobs This Offense, How His Numbers Breakdown Give A Stronger Insight. Jacobs Only Notch 6 Games Of 100 Or More, 200 Yard Game Against Seattle That Skewed The Numbers Somewhat In His Favor. Outside Of Those, We're Two 90 Plus Yard Games But Nothing More A Good Chunk Of His Season Featured Several Woefully Inefficient Games. The Raiders Offense Had a Choppy Start for many reasons, But Jacobs Needs A more-encompassing role And an all-encompassing season If He hopes to make money.

Derrick Henry

Still, The League Foremost Wrecking Ball, Derrick Henry, Stiffened His Neck Up Against The Hurricane Force Winds Of Regression. "I'm the Juggernaut! Ain't nothin' -- ain't nobody -- can beat me!" I Can't Think of a Better Idea That Explains Henry; I've Never Witnessed A Man Take And Deliver So Many Hits; Henry's Physicality, Even If Sometimes Fruitless, Demands Awe And Respect. He's "Chargin' Chuck," The Football Playing Mario's Adversary, Which Takes Three Hits To Take Down.

The Titan's offense Suffered From All Of The Ills Of A Bad. The Offensive Line Fell To Shambles, The Titans Receiving Core Lost All "Weaponry," AJ Brown Really From Their AFC Number Seed A Year Ago, And They're Still Trying To Replicate The Success of Former Offensive Coordinator Arthur Smith, Now Head Coach Of The Falcons, Ryan Tannehill Decline. All Of Those Loses Left The Titan's Passing Game Comatose. The Lack Of Credible Receiving Options Left The Titans Little Options But Utilize Henry In The Passing Game, In Which He Didn't Disappoint. Henry Posted A Career High In Receiving Yards, 398 Yards, And A Career High 12.1 Per Reception (12.0 Of Which He Generated After The Catch), More Than 171 Than Any Other Season In His Career.

Henry Still Found Time To Lead The In Yards After Contact. Derrick Henry Saw The Second Highest 8 Man Box Rate. Defense Deploying Heavy Boxes Never Deterred Henry Before, But Now He's Coming Off Of His Most Human Season In 2021 If Henry Could Ever Play Human. Injuries Capped Henry At Eight Games, And He Just Missed 1000 Yards. Still The Unstoppable Force With A Built-Up Head Of Speed. His Feet And Motion Fit A More Angular Frame, Enough So For THat Force To Hop Step Away From Oncoming Traffic And Force Miss Tackles. However, King Henry's Presence Best Fit For Ponded "Built Like A Tank, yet, But Hard To Hit" (Ice Cube).

Alvin Kamara

A Year Or Two Ago, Alvin Kamara Could've Tabled An Argument For A Three away Tie At The Top Of The Ladder. Instead, His Off The Field Problem And Growing List Of Injuries Have Him Dangling Off The Top Five. When Fully Engaged in Alvin Kamara's Still The One Cut Breakaway Machine, Showcasing His World Callas Ability To Cripple Defenses. When You Look At His Numbers Or Just Take A Look At His Film, The Lost Of A Step Or At Least Half A Step Stabs You With How Much His Game Has Slowed. We'll Witness, Next Year If Kamara Manages A Full Season.

The Final Section Of This List Fills with Running Backs Who's Sustained Career On Lifetime Achievement Status, Like Dalvin Cook, And Newer Younger BAcks Making A Name For Themsleves In The Game. Has Cook's Lost A Step Or Two? I Can't Say. He Took Eight Week To Register His First 100 Yard Game Of The Season, And Only Manage One More The Rest Of The Season. Of Course, The Vikings Offense Neglected To Feature The Run Much, With Their Star Receiver Generating Enough EPA To Win The North On His Own. Cook Posted Only 250 Rushing Attempts, His Lowest Total In Four Years. Cook Still Triumphs Over The 1000-Yard Mark By The End Of The Season. Nevertheless, The Vikings Saw The Writing On The Wall And Cut Cook This Off-season—vets Like Myles Sanders And Tony Pollard Posted Career Best Numbers Last Season. Sanders Posted 1419 Behind The Eagles Vaunted Offensive Line Now In Carolina; Sanders Will Have To Prove He's The Top Back His Production Suggests or Just An Average Talent Prop Up By A Super Team.

Tony Pollard Of The Cowboys Also Enjoyed A Career Year For Dallas With 1106 Yards Total, 5.2 Per Carry, And 3.76 Yards After Contact; Good Enough For Second In The League. He's On His Own, So To Say, As The Lead Back Of The Cowboys' Backfield. Can Pollard Handle The Responsibility Of A Loan Back Field, Coming Off Of A Broken Leg? He'll Get Tested in A Contract Year, and His 232 touches Will Surely BAllon As The Cowboy's Offense Aims To Feature The Run At A Far Greater Efficiency. I Don't Know How I "Feel" About Jonathan Taylor Anymore. His League Leading Rushing Title And Takeover As The Best Back In the League Seems Like That Happened A Decade Ago. He's Coming Off Of A Season Where He Struggled With Injuries The Colts Struggled With Relevants, And With Boiling Over Of Running Back Frustration Taylor Requested A Trade From The Colts As He Prepares To Possibly Meet The same Fate As So Many Runningbacks So Far This Off Season.

Team Owner Jim Irsay Shot Down This Notion, With The Same Fury And Indignanats, And Repugnance That Richard Nixon Shot Down Accusations Of His Involvement In The Watergate Scandal.

" We will not trade Jonathan Taylor," Irsay said. "That is a certainty. Not now or not in October." With One Year Remaining On His Deal, Taylor Endured A Season In Which The Colts Quarterback Situation Fell Apart Almost Embarrassingly, He Lost His Coach, And The Colts Installed A "Sham" Coach As The Colts Unofficially "Booted" The Season.

With The Colts Offense Undertaking A Sort Of Reconstruction Under New Head Coach

“…it's a privilege to be a part of it(The League).” Irsay Continue

Otherwise, Several Young Backs like Isiah Pacheco Of the Chiefs, Kenneth Walker III Of The Seahawks, And Breece Hall Of The Jets Whose Coming off Of An ACL Injury But Had A Stellar First Half To the Season For The Jets. With Aaron Rodgers Aging And The Jets Passing Expected To Improve Otherwise, Breece Has The Run Way To A Big Season.
